Here's a write up for anyone who has not heard anything about it yet: Deathtroopers What does everyone think about this? Personally as a huge fan of both Star Wars and horror I'm really interested to see what they do with this. Obviously there's been plenty of classic movies in the past that have merged sci-fi and horror to great success (Think Alien or The Thing) so I'm excited about the possibilities of that. I've considered many times doing a sort of Lovecraft style horror RP on here so this is right up my alley. Joe is an author who has written some pretty great horror novels in the past and he's also a huge Star Wars fan which I think is a perfect combination for something like this. Oh yes, they don't say anything in that article but it's set just before A New Hope and will be released October 27, 2009.

The cover made me even more excited... you can definitely tell they won't be watering this down for the kiddies. One of the things that's a true indication is in one of the quotes in this articles and past ones I've read he says something along the line of how he wrote it for fans of the original trilogy back in the 70's.

I loved Timothy Zahn's last SW book because of the lack of skyhumper from the main cast. I think they are doing a smart thing by continuing by expanding the universe outside the cast of the main films if this book is likely to do that as well. I didn't really see much info on it. It's set in the classic movie era. Supposed to feature Thawn, Mara Jade, The Hand of Judgment Stormies, and the usual cast, sadly on the last part. So it's all his prize babies in one big book. Should be interesting since Thrawn and the HoJ probably got along well with the Empire of hte Hand stuff.
